The Impact

The Impact of empowerment made the women who had no houses now sleep in the comfortable house and is rearing goats

Many households in (Ngetta) Lira district is devastated by poverty and unemployment. Since the insurgences that took place in 2000, many women are now the head of households and they are suffering in running the households due to financial constraints. Very few have opportunities to earn income and access counseling. There are those who are discriminated against due to being victim of abduction, others are finding a challenge because they were forced to marry as children and yet they are to be the read winners in the families, others have marginalized because they have failed in life due to trafficking and its challenges, rejections and other women have lost their husbands and the community can not give them any support. There are women who have come back home due to domestic violence and they have come back to their biological families with their children and they have to feed the children and the entire house household. Bishop Asili Counseling and Community Foundation Providence Home (BACCDF) has and is still giving the training skill program to empower these poor and vulnerable women and girls, and helping the to become self-reliant.

We train them on tailoring, train them in small business to up lift their households, we empower them in soap making, give them projects like cooking that can strengthen them and the families, we train them to plant trees, do some kitchen agriculture, rear animals, and birds, We were able to give them some bicycles that they use for carrying their products to the market, go to the hospitals, take their children to school and to prayer centers. We do family visits mostly to the trafficked and rescued girls and we support them physically, socially, psychologically, economically and spiritually. We empower them to find meaning in life,
I would wish to appreciate The Sisters of the Missionary institute of Mary Mother of the Church, some charitable organizations and friends who supported us to get some sewing machines and bicycles to give to these women. This combined force influenced the center to empower the women and restored hope in the life of the women and has created a stream of income for these women.
This joint integrated approach was able to empower these rural women to cope with the impact of COVID -19 Pandemic through strengthened social network, saving groups and solidarity that helped the housed holds to overcome the aftermath of the crisis
